Hong Kong artist Andy Lau was honoured with the Special Tribute Award at the 48th Toronto International Film Festival on September 15. The Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Toronto) (HKETO), Ms Emily Mo, congratulated Mr Lau on earning the prestigious award.
Ms Mo said, "Multi-hyphenate artist Andy Lau is one of Hong Kong’s most popular performers, with a career spanning more than four decades and over 160 films in his filmography. We sincerely congratulate Mr Lau on earning this well-deserved title for his remarkable talents and contributions in the industry.
"Mr Lau is not only an industry icon and multi-faceted artist with an impressive filmography, he is also a role model for people who wish to pursue their dreams. We thank him for bringing Hong Kong films to the international stage."
Mr Lau received the tribute at the world premiere gala presentation of Mainland director Ning Hao's "The Movie Emperor", in which he stars. He also participated in the "In Conversation With..." series on September 16 to share his experience and insights in acting and movie making.
香港藝人劉德華榮獲多倫多國際電影節特別貢獻獎
香港藝人劉德華於九月十五日榮獲第48屆多倫多國際電影節特別貢獻獎。香港駐多倫多經濟貿易辦事處（香港經貿處）處長巫菀菁向劉德華獲取殊榮致以祝賀。
巫菀菁表示：「劉德華多才多藝，是香港最受歡迎的藝人之一，演藝生涯逾四十年，參演電影超過160部。劉德華憑藉其卓越才華並在電影工業上的貢獻，獲此殊榮當之無愧，我們衷心祝賀。」
「劉德華不僅是業界楷模及多棲藝人，其電影作品令人印象難忘，也是大家追求夢想的榜樣。我們感謝他把香港電影帶到國際舞台。」
劉德華在其主演、由內地導演寧浩執導的電影「紅毯先生」的全球首映禮上獲頒授該獎項。 他在九月十六日也出席了多倫多國際電影節的「與……對話」系列講座，分享他在演藝和電影製作方面的經驗和見解。
