Acting Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Toronto) (HKETO), Mr Gavin Yeung, visited Montreal from March 12 to 14 to promote Hong Kong as an ideal destination for Canadian enterprises and talent to pursue new opportunities.
On March 14, Mr Yeung attended the 2025 iPitch Competition hosted by the Junior Hong Kong-Canada Business Association (McGill Chapter) in Montreal. Through this annual competition supported by HKETO and Invest Hong Kong in Canada (InvestHK), participating students pitched their business ideas in teams to win a prize.
Speaking at the event, Mr Yeung updated the young talent on the business environment and advantages of working in Hong Kong.
“Hong Kong remains the world’s freest economy and the third-largest international financial center, as well as the fifth most competitive city in the world,” said Mr Yeung. “As announced in Hong Kong’s Budget last month, our economy recorded 2.5% growth last year and the unemployment rate stays low at 3.1%. The International Monetary Fund has recently reaffirmed Hong Kong’s resilience and stability, recognizing our robust financial system and institutional strength.”
Mr Yeung further highlighted the strong ties between Hong Kong and Canada, noting that many Canadian financial institutions have a long presence in Hong Kong.
With the unparalleled opportunities Hong Kong offers, Mr Yeung encouraged the young Canadian talent to consider Hong Kong as the destination to launch their careers.
At the event, the Deputy Head of Business and Talent Attraction of InvestHK, Ms Grace Lau, introduced to the university students the various talent admission schemes and support programmes available in Hong Kong.
On March 12-13, Mr Yeung toured the local business and had meetings with business representatives to explore potential collaboration opportunities with their trade counterparts in Hong Kong.
香港經貿處署理處長在滿地可招商引才
香港駐多倫多經濟貿易辦事處（香港經貿處）署理處長楊江鋒於三月十二日至十四日訪問滿地可，向加拿大企業及人才推廣香港的機遇。
楊江鋒在三月十四日於滿地可出席由青年港加商會（McGill分會）舉辦的2025年業務推廣個案比賽。這年度活動由香港經貿處和香港投資推廣署加拿大辦事處（投資推廣署）支持舉辦，參賽的大學生以小組形式展示他們的商業創意，爭取獎項。
楊江鋒在活動上致辭，向學生介紹香港的經濟環境和在香港工作的好處。
楊江鋒表示：「香港是全球最自由的經濟體和第三大國際金融中心，並在全球最具競爭力城市排行第五位。上月公佈的財政預算案提及，香港經濟去年錄得2.5％增長，失業率保持在3.1％低位。國際貨幣基金組織最近讚揚香港經濟維持強韌穩定，並肯定香港穩健的金融體系及制度。」
楊江鋒提及港加兩地的緊密聯繫，並指出不少加拿大的金融機構在香港有悠久營商歷史。
楊江鋒鼓勵加拿大人才善用香港的機遇，考慮在香港開展事業。
活動上，投資推廣署招商引才副總監劉慧恩向與會大學生介紹香港各項人才入境計劃以及香港提供的支援。
楊江鋒於三月十二至十三日在滿地可參觀不同企業和與公司代表會面，探討與香港業界的合作機遇。
