HKETO Director promotes Greater Bay Area at 2024 MRVCBA Outstanding Women Awards Gala

Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Toronto) (HKETO), Ms Emily Mo, promoted the enormous development opportunities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) at the 2024 Markham, Richmond Hill & Vaughan Chinese Business Association (MRVCBA) Outstanding Women Awards Gala on June 15.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms Mo said that the GBA is the engine of economic development in China and the world. As the most open and business-friendly international city in the GBA, Hong Kong played an influential role in connecting the GBA with other parts of the world, helping businesses and individuals to connect and excel in this new global economic zone.

She pointed out that the GBA comprises the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macao, and nine cities in the Guangdong Province.  It has a total population of over 86 million of relatively higher portion of young population and middle-class; and has a GDP of over 1.7 trillion USD, which is about the GDP size of Canada.

“The objectives to develop the GBA are to deepen cooperation amongst the cities and fully leverage the composite advantages of them.  The governments of both sides have launched joint policy to implement measures conducive to the flow of talent, scientific research resources and business development in the zone,” she said.  

She emphasized that Hong Kong would continue to be Canadian companies’ gateway to mainland China including the GBA, and invited Canadian companies and global talents to grasp the enormous opportunities presented by Hong Kong for business development and personal advancement.

HKETO sponsored the Outstanding Canada/Greater Bay Area Communion Award at the gala. This year the award was presented to the Founder and Director of Decomomo, Ms Jess Mok, who founded the household storage product company in Canada in 2016 and is exploring opportunities to enhance its international presence in markets including the United States, Europe and Asia.

香港經貿處處長於萬錦市烈治文山市旺市華商會「雲裳楓采」2024晚宴推廣大灣區發展

香港駐多倫多經濟貿易辦事處(香港經貿處)處長巫菀菁於六月十五日舉行的萬錦市烈治文山市旺市華商會上推廣粵港澳大灣區(大灣區)的無限發展商機。

巫菀菁在典禮上致辭時表示,大灣區是中國乃至世界經濟發展的引擎。香港作為大灣區內最開放、最便利營商的國際城市,在聯通大灣區與世界其他地區方面發揮重要作用,促進企業和個人在這嶄新環球經濟區域建立聯繫並取得卓越成就。

她指出,大灣區涵蓋香港特別行政區、澳門特別行政區和廣東省九個城市,總人口超過8,600萬,其中年輕人口和中產階級比例較高;其本地生產總值逾1.7萬億美元,與加拿大的本地生產總值規模相若。

「建設大灣區發展區域旨在深化城市之間的合作,充分發揮城市綜合發展優勢。雙方政府推出聯通合作政策,積極落實有利於區內人才交流、科研資源和企業發展的措施。

她強調,香港將繼續成為加拿大企業進入包括大灣區在內的中國內地市場的門戶。她邀請加拿大企業乃至全球人才把握香港在商貿和個人發展方面的良機。

香港經貿處贊助晚宴的傑出加拿大/大灣區合作促進大獎,獎項的得獎者是Decomomo創辦人莫永婷。她於二○一六年創立其家庭用品公司,並正探索機會,提升其在美國、歐洲和亞洲等國際市場的佔有率。
